October/November Information

 

A reminder to all that membership renewals are now due. If you do not have a form or you do not wish to renew, please email secretary@cahs.com.au or phone Kay on 0418493676. Any memberships not renewed by Monday 16th October will be lapsed. Extra fees will apply for back copies of Grist Mills and Kernels for lapsed members renewing.

 

Our display is ''Milestones'', mainly Campbelltown but including items of State or National importance.

Please visit Glenalvon on one of our Open Days to support the volunteers who work so hard to keep Glenalvon open.

Monday 2nd October. Open Day at Glenalvon. 10 am to 1 pm.

Saturday 14th October.  Open Day at Glenalvon. 10 am to 1 pm
    Tours of the house and grounds.

Thursday 26th October.  Trip to the Great Synagogue in the city.
    Phone Kay (0418 493 676) if interested.

Saturday 28th October. Open Day at Glenalvon. 10 am to 1 pm.

Saturday 28th October.
    Launch of the Grist Mills is before the meeting at 1.30pm. At Glenalvon.   
    Title: "Over the Creek and Down the Hill Early Life in Leumeah and East Minto" by Wayne Williams.
    Followed by the Members Meeting.
    Speaker: Andrew Allen.
    Topic: "Cafes and Tea Rooms".
    Afternoon Tea will be provided.

  

November 2017

Saturday 4th November. Fisher's Ghost Street Stall and Parade
    Glenalvon will be open from 10am - 6pm.
    Volunteers required to sit in rooms of the house to welcome visitors. Any time you can give is appreciated.
    Please ring Kay 0418 493 676.
    Fisher's Ghost Street stall - 11 am - 3 pm.
    Fisher's Ghost Street Parade - 6 pm - 8 pm.

Monday 6th November. Open Day at Glenalvon. 10 am to 1 pm.

Saturday 11th November.  No Open Day due to the extra time on 4th for Fisher's Ghost Festival.

Saturday 25th November. Open Day at Glenalvon. 10 am to 1 pm.

Saturday 25th November.
   Join us in a special members tour of Glenalvon at 1:00 pm,
   followed by our business meeting, then enjoy a special Afternoon tea celebrating Christmas for all members.
   No speaker, just members and friends!
   Our last meeting of 2017. Please join us!

These are not public Open Days - Booked tour groups only.
* Wednesday 18th October        Morning tea and tour.
* Tuesday 24th October             Morning tea and tour - 11 am.

Watering, pruning, weeding etc.

Glenalvon is a classic sandstone town house dating from 1830. On open mornings the property is open from 10am to 1pm and activities include tours of the house, heritage gardens, buildings and the Rural exhibition centre.
